This week we read this headline in an article in the online magazine Business Insider, which highlights the importance of cybersecurity in companies, regardless of their size. Below is an excerpt from the article:

Cyber-attacks are scaring investors away. This is revealed by a survey conducted by FTI Consulting for the consulting firm KPMG of 133 institutional investors worldwide (from private banks, wealth management, mutual and investment funds, hedge funds, pension funds, insurance funds, sovereign wealth funds and endowments) that manage more than USD 3 trillion (EUR 2.7 billion). The study states that nearly eight out of 10 investors may lose interest in companies that have suffered cyber-attacks. The report’s findings show that these profiles are starting to become aware of the importance of cybersecurity in business, with 86% of them considering it a priority area for growth.

Digital risk management skills are lacking

For the investors interviewed, barely half (46%) of the boards of the companies in which they currently invest have the right skills to manage innovation and risk in the digital environment.

Furthermore, according to the survey, 84% of investors believe that boards should spend more time considering the scope and impact of cyber attacks.
