Free Wi-Fi networks are an easy target for cybercriminals because they are often not very well protected. Therefore, a number of precautions should be taken when connecting to them.

Recommendations for safe navigation

  1. Prevent automatic connection and remove access to Wi-Fi networks once you have finished using them.
  2. Avoid making online purchases or exchanging sensitive information.
  3. Check that the free network available is the official network of the place you are in.
  4. There are blackberries in every public place! Protect your screen from prying eyes.
  5. Be cautious and keep your devices and their applications up to date.
  6. Whenever available, connect to security-certified sites, with https://.
