Technology companies are looking ahead to a 2022 that will be full of new technological breakthroughs, as evidenced by their latest releases and forecasts for the coming year.
After a 2021 marked by the supply crisis due to the lack of semiconductors, the increase in demand caused by the coronavirus and transport problems in Asia, companies such as Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Honor and LG are preparing for a 2022 in which they will bet on new launches.
These are the five technological advances that we can expect from companies in 2022.
Go for the foldable
After the irruption of foldable mobiles, the big technology companies are going to continue to bet on this type of device, as shown by the latest launches by Huawei and Honor.
In the case of the former company, it has just presented the Huawei P50 Pocket. A device that is committed to the vertical fold, which follows in the footsteps of Samsung with its Galaxy Z Flip series.
Meanwhile, Honor has confirmed that it will soon launch its first foldable phone, Honor Magic V, which will hit the market in 2022.
Larger screens on tablets
Tablets in the third quarter of 2021 recorded their first decline since the pandemic began. According to IDC data, companies will focus on larger formats, which can reach up to 15-inch screens.
In this regard, Lenovo has already launched the Yoga Tab 13 on the market in the autumn. This is one of the largest tablets on the market, with a 13-inch screen, the company announced at the time.
In addition, according to technology analyst Mark Guardan, Apple is reportedly working on a 15-inch version of its tablets, capable of loading some laptop operating system applications, with similar power.
New design for televisions
Among the new products for 2022, LG has unveiled its Lifestyle series of smart TVs. The LG Object Smart TV, with a look that limits a canvas, and the LG StandbyMe Smart TV, with an LCD panel and a 27-inch diagonal, plus mobile stand with wheels and battery inside.
Along with these advances for televisions, LG has also shown other bets for 2020. These include the vertical monitor that reduces neck pain and the unicycle with a screen, both of which will be on show at CES 2022.
More autonomy and measurement in watches
In the case of smartwatches, the latest advances made by technology companies suggest that in 2022 they will opt for greater autonomy and an increase in sensors to measure all kinds of variables.
This is the case of the Huawei Watch D, the company’s first device capable of measuring blood pressure. It also has an accelerometer, gyroscope, optical sensor for measuring heart rate, electrocardiogram measurement, blood pressure monitor, oximeter and barometer.
In addition, devices such as the Redmi Watch 2 Lite or the Huawei Watch GT Runner offer up to two weeks of battery life.
Focused on gaming
After experiencing an increase in global gaming PC sales of 10.8%, technology companies will focus on the gaming industry in 2022, with specialised gaming launches.
This is the case for the new monitors and TVs that Samsung will launch in 2022. These will include support for HDR10+ Gaming by default, or LG’s first laptop, the 17G90Q model, with a 17-inch screen and a weight of 2.7 kilograms.
