Today we would like to talk to you about the growth and importance of the cloud for companies. The advantages of a good Cloud service are indisputable. The consultancy firm Canalys forecasts that this market will reach a value of 190 billion dollars by 2020.
Present and future of the Cloud
There seems to be no end to the cloud’s potential. During the last reported quarter, the cloud infrastructure services segment saw global spending increase by no less than 53%.
This means that it has reached $8.2 billion. And it is believed that for the whole of 2016 the figure will be more than 38 billion. Between infrastructure as a service and platform as a service that forms part of private and public services. Or at least that is what the consultancy firm believes, which has fairly positive forecasts for the future. “By 2020,” says analyst Daniel Liu, “the value of the cloud infrastructure services market is expected to reach $190 billion“.
“Business adoption is increasing rapidly, but it is the growth of consumer-centric services such as video streaming, content storage, gaming and social networking services that has been the main driver,” explains Liu.
Importance of the smartphone
“Usage will continue to grow as smartphone penetration increases, high-speed connectivity becomes ubiquitous, bandwidth constraints ease and new content-based applications emerge,” he continues. “The combination of cloud and mobile has enabled the emergence of new business models and technology startups, giving instant access to billions of customers through online marketplaces,” he concludes.
Another figure from Canalys is that this year more than half of all servers will be located in data centres that provide infrastructure services. This is where we all need to be aware because, while we accumulate more and more Terabytes of unusable or obsolete DATA, server farms consume 30,000,000 Watts to operate, the equivalent of the output of 30 nuclear power plants.
Our commitment
We consider it essential to always take into account the efficient use of the equipment installed in order to contribute to sustainable development. To this end, Esferize has implemented an Environmental Management System based on the UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004 standard. With it, we intend to collaborate in the conservation of the environment.
At Esferize we are convinced that more and more companies will join this trend. In addition, the cloud sector in Spain will also continue to grow, although it must be supported by expert professionals. For this reason, we always recommend having the advice and support of a company with the infrastructure and knowledge. Both are necessary to provide tailor-made support for each client.
High profitability
In conclusion, we hope that this data will help you to take the pulse of a growing part of the industry that demonstrates the return on investment in IT. We would also like to remind you that if you would like to find out how cloud infrastructure can benefit you, our team would be delighted to hear from you.
